This map of soil subsidence literally shows the dynamic nature of the Nederland. The latest version is the surface and object motion (SOM) map 2.0, an interactive map that allows you to zoom down to individual measurement sites, and shows the movement of these measurement sites over time.
The SOM 2.0 is mostly based on Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) data, a proven technology for measuring motion on the grond: Radar satellites emit signals that reflect on the earth surface. These reflections are combined to estimate the motion of the earth and objects on it. GPS and gravity data are used to provide references for the data set. Processing InSAR data is part of work package 1 in LOSS. Contact: Prof. Ramon Hanssen, TUDelft.
